Biodynamics by Áron
Talking of biodynamics, last weekend a few of us attended the Hungarian Biodynamic Association's winter training.
As mentioned in last week's newsletter, Áron and Júlia gave a presentation on the 4-year german biodynamic farming practical apprenticeship, which Áron completed before joining Zsámboki Biokert. They gave a really interesting presentation, and got people thinking about how could a similar training be organised in Hungary (not a simple task!). I learnt that Áron is something of an expert on soil testing using simple observational techniques, which is a skill set we will certainly put to valuable use on our farm. Encouraging life in the soil to create the healthiest environment for plants is a long-term effort, which we have been working at since we started up Zsámboki Biokert in 2010. We know that we are making progress, but a more systematic monitoring programme would help to provide more empirical support to our work - always plenty more can be done!
